Peeling

When superficial peeling the uppermost stratum corneum of the skin is removed mechanically or chemically. This treatment is referred to colloquially as peeling, many vendors refer to this method as microdermabrasion.

At the medium depth peeling the entire horny layer is chemically removed. This must be prepared well and takes about a week until healing occurs.

When deep peeling the skin is removed to the collagen layer. The healing process takes several weeks. This procedure is not usual in Europe.

Peeling is applied to:
- Bad complexion
- Pigmentation, pigmentary disorders
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Blemishes, enlarged pores
- Sagging Skin
- Certain forms of acne
- Cornification of the skin
- Skin scars (stretch and stretch marks)
- Most is peeling on the face, hands and décolleté, apply a superficial peeling as a full body treatment.

Operation
Basically, the more a peeling, the deeper layers of skin are removed by it. Chemical Peels (acids) can coagulate the protein of the skin (denature it). So it comes to, for example, that in a trichloroacetic acid peeling a “frosting” occurs, ie a white layer of destroyed protein is visible.

The strength of an acid peel is dependent on the concentration used, the duration of action and how strong it is “rubbed” into the skin. The more a scrub, the better the effect, the more side effects must be factored in also.

In the following Elisées Clinic scrubs types are offered:
Chemical peel
Fruit acids (acts superficially, such as glycolic acid)
Lipo-Hydroxy Acid (LHA) (looks superficially)
Tretinoin (vitamin A acid)

Peeling per Laser
An Erbium: YAG laser (pretty deep, prolonged healing time of about 1 week, redness around 2 to 4 weeks)
Pulsed CO2 laser Carbon dioxide laser (deep, prolonged healing time of about 1 week, redness around 1 to 4 months)

Mikrodermabrasio
In this method, the top layer of skin, the dead cells of the “stratum corneum” controlled by special sterile micro-crystals, like a blasting unit, in fine layers removed. Depending on the desired treatment goal, the superficial layers or eroded deeper. By this treatment the skin is “open” to

1) the formation of new cells to stimulate
To increase 2) the targeted penetration of active ingredients, eg The fruit acid (AHA) or hyaluronic acid.
