Which lasers are used in aesthetic medicine?
The number of different laser systems is very large, and the technical developments are progressing rapidly. Lasers that are used in the aesthetic medical field orientation shown.
1.
Among the ablative (ablative) laser types include CO2 and Erbium: YAG laser energy emitted by these lasers is strongly absorbed by water-containing body structures and leads to destruction by heat or vaporization of the skin.
Erbium:
YAG laser is suitable due to its low heat for the layered effect of ablation of superficial skin lesions.
When CO2 laser is achieved by the thermal effects an immediate hemostasis, reduction of collagen fibers, collagen-shrinking and the activation of tissue-forming cells. A distinction is made between permanent spot for cutting and removing CO2 and pulsed or scanner controlled variants that have decreased due to thermal effects and fewer side effects and are therefore better suited for removing extensive skin areas.
2.
The non-ablative laser systems include Nd: YAG laser, KTP, dye, ruby, alexandrite, excimer and diode lasers.
Nd:
YAG laser (including the technical variant KTP Nd: YAG lasers) have a much broader range of applications. Apart from superficial and deeper blood vessels, they also reach pigments of various kinds, they are also used for skin rejuvenation and hair removal.
Most current dye laser acting on the basis of their wavelength selective damage more on superficial blood vessels (port wine stains, angiomas, telangiectasia) without the surrounding skin surface. These selective lasers have replaced due to their reduced side effects which previously often used argon laser almost.
Alexandrite show particularly strong effect pigment, so they are used to remove certain tattoos, age spots and hair removal.
Ruby lasers are used for superficial benign skin discoloration, tattoos and hair removal.
The diode effect, depending on the wavelength, in dilated blood vessels, or hair on pigments.
Excimer laser is due to the media, in comparison with conventional UV light therapy lower cumulative UV doses in the treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo and atopic eczema. Often, you can improve the hypopigmentation with these devices.
Among others the following treatments can be offered:
Acne
Rejuvenating
Rosacea / stains
Hair removal
Laser ablation
Spider veins
Varicose Veins
Pigment spots
